Description:
Rare item and a glimpse into English social history. The wicker and glass costrel would have been carried into the countryside to serve as an old fashion portable thermos for those working in the fields or for those travelling on horseback. A convenient way of transporting wine, beer, cider. I usually find French costrels, but was fortunate to find this little beauty. It's a great collector piece and would sit well in any library, living room or bar area.
Beautiful patina and in wonderful condition given it's age. An extraordinary piece of history.
